Overview

Responsible for providing quality and food safety leadership to the Cedar Rapids plant through developing, managing and administering quality and food safety processes. To effectively lead and continually improve the Quality and Food Safety Management System. This position is responsible for ensuring the appropriate quality policies and procedures are utilized in the manufacture of products in order to meet regulatory, customer and consumer requirements.

The position will be filled at L6 or L7 depending on the candidates' current level within the Supply Chain Competency Assessment (SCCA) program

Responsibilities

  • Use appropriate quality and food safety management tools to ensure compliance with corporate and plant procedures and specifications.
  • Ensure adherence to applicable FDA, FSMA, IPM and state/local regulations in all processes at the Cedar Rapids facility.
  • Develop action plans with Production, Engineering, R&D and Division Quality Assurance to insure that product specifications, analytical procedures, sampling programs and sensory evaluations are appropriate and meet system capability and key consumer requirements.
  • Develop, implement and sustain plant quality and sanitation programs as assigned.
  • Supports the development of the strategic quality and food safety plans for the Cedar Rapids plant.
  • Provide reliability and risk management analysis. Make recommendations for the improvement of production, design and test processes, which would affect product quality. Assure key learning's from root-cause findings are implemented in like systems to reduce opportunity for repetitive issues.
  • Provide quality training, to include food safety and allergen plans, applied statistics, regulatory requirements, GMPs and quality measurement systems. Be capable of delivering training in the area of continuous improvement processes.
  • Manage aspects of product quality and food safety at the floor level. This is inclusive of product specs, a quality manual, weight control, traceability, in process and finished product testing and food safety and allergens. Conduct self-inspection audits ensuring AIB and FSSC 22000 Standards requirements are met.
  • Be aware of new developments within areas of ownership, including new equipment, procedures and techniques to assure up to date methods are in place and moving from output data collection to input data collection reducing time required to measure in process controls.

Compensation and Benefits:

  • The expected compensation range for this position is between $60,000 - $100,500 based on a full-time schedule.
  • Location, confirmed job-related skills and experience will be considered in setting actual starting salary.
  • Bonus based on performance and eligibility; target payout is 8% of annual salary paid out annually.
  • Paid time off subject to eligibility, including paid parental leave, vacation, sick, and bereavement.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Food Science/Technology, Chemistry, Biology or other related technical field.
  • Drive accountability at all levels of the organization to ensure quality and food safety metrics are delivered and enhancing our Food Safety Culture
  • Ability to motivate and lead teams
  • Risk Assessment/Problem Solving/Decision Management: Able to evaluate various alternatives and risks and communicate recommendations based on strategic considerations using data
  • Regulations/Policies: Effectively implement/maintain FSMA/Food Safety/HACCP knowledge, FSSC 22000 standards (allergens, cross-contamination, HACCP and Food Safety Plan elements, plan development and implementation, training development and delivery, documentation, GMP's, pesticide residues). Understands GMP requirements and Federal laws. Demonstrates understanding of quality and food safety systems and can translate into practical solutions for plant location.
  • General Effectiveness Skills: Display the ability to communicate clearly in both oral and in written form; able to effectively problem solve; able to read conflict situations quickly and appropriately; resolves differences with others effectively and in a timely manner.
